If you are a bike enthusiast and looking to change your bike this year, then you are in for a treat. There are some great motorcycles expected to enter the Indian markets in the coming months. We are talking about bikes that will cater to every enthusiast, from superbikes to street nakeds to adventure tourers and even electric commuter bikes!
So, read on to find out our picks from all the bikes destined for our roads.
Hero XPulse
We begin this list with an adventure tourer from the country’s largest two wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp. The XPulse was revealed at EICMA 2017 and has been hotly anticipated ever since. It comes with a raised front fender, fuel tank with pronounced recesses, LED headlight, windscreen, digital instrument cluster and hand guards.
Power will come from a single cylinder, 200cc motor pushing out 18.4hp and 17Nm of torque. The XPulse will also feature a monoshock rear suspension, disc brakes and telescopic fork with 190mm of travel to better handle off-road trails.
Tentative Launch Date: Fourth Quarter 2018
Expected Price: Rs. 1 lakh
Royal Enfield Continental GT Twin/Interceptor 650
The Continental GT Twin will be a café racer having a single seat, clip-on handlebars andan angular tank. The Interceptor 650 will be a cruiser that will accommodate a more relaxed riding posture with regular handlebars, bench seat and rounded tank. Both bikes will derive power from the same 648cc parallel-twin motor capable of 47hp and 52Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Tentative Launch Date: Third Quarter 2018
Expected Price: Rs. 3-3.5 lakh
BMW G310R
BMW Motorrad’s G 310 R is the firm’s long-awaited street-naked motorcycle. It features conventional styling and a reverse cylinder design that tilts towards the rear. This unconventional design element will make it more compact with better weight distribution and lower centre of gravity; which will make it more manoeuvrable. A 313cc, single cylinder churning out 33.6hp and 28Nm of torque and powering a bike weighing just 158kg should make for a sprightly motorcycle.
Tentative Launch Date: Fourth Quarter 2018
Expected Price: Rs. 2.20-2.40 lakh
Kawasaki ZX-10R SE
This variant of the ZX-10R superbike comes with technology honed on the racetrack, namely the company’s Superbike World Championship race bike. The SE stands for electronic semi-active suspension, with Kawasaki claiming that it has elements from Jonathan Rea’s Ninja ZX-10RR racer. It is also their first bike to come with the Kawasaki Electronic Control Suspension (KECS). Power figures are worthy of the superbike tag: 207hp (with ram air intake) and 113.5Nm.
Tentative Launch Date: Second Quarter 2018
Expected Price: Rs. 23 lakh
Tork Motorcycles T6X
There is an electric motorcycle on this list too, and this one comes from an Indian manufacturer nonetheless. Pune-based Tork Motorcycles will be coming out with the T6X, an all-electric motorcycle with a claimed range of 100km and a top speed of 85kph. The bike will cater to the 125cc commuter segment and, as per company claims, will cost a maximum of Rs. 20 for a full recharge.
